I have had a few entertaining encounters with strangers regarding my pregnant belly. Here are a few for your enjoyment :-)
-While at a winery around Halloween time (I was not tasting) with friends, a creeper guy rubbed my belly...multiple times. Where's Collin when you need him?
-I was standing in a long line to use the lady's restroom at a restaurant when the lady in front of me turned, looked at my tummy, and said, "This is a long wait...thankfully I am not in your situation." She was in front of me in line and did not sympathize with me enough to let me go ahead of her.
-While checking out at Ralphs, the grocer turned to me and told me that he had the perfect Christmas gift for my baby. He grabbed The Smurfs DVD and handed it to me. Then, he proceeded to explain that no one wanted to buy it but maybe my unborn child would enjoy it. Thanks...but no thanks.
-An 8th grade boy in a class I was substituting for turned to me and said, "That is going to hurt so bad when the baby comes out of you!" He said the exact same thing to me one month later when I substituted in the same class. Thank you for the reminder.
-A little boy turned to his mom, pointed at my tummy, and said, "Wow, that is one big belly!" For some reason I felt it necessary to explain to this 4 year old boy that I was having a baby. I don't think he understood.
-While swimming laps at the pool, a man jumped in the lane next to me. In between sets, I stopped to adjust my goggles and he started up with some small talk. "How is your workout going? Do you swim here often? How long have you been swimming? Etc." He was awkwardly flirting with me and clearly did not notice my protruding belly under the water. I shamelessly said something about being pregnant, and he quickly responded, "Oh...okay, have a good swim," and got out of the pool.
-Today, I was checking out at Whole Foods and looked over to see a woman staring at me and smiling. I looked at her and she looked at me and just continued to stare at me with a huge grin on her face. I hope she was smiling at my baby bump...I would feel bad if I just didn't recognize her.
Pretty soon, strangers will be flirting and smiling with my baby boy!
A lot of these things have happened to me recently!
